is there a way to recover a password, or reset it to default.? I'm working on a system and the prior vendor won't release the password.

If you call Samsung they can run through a password reset.You will probably need to be an authorized dealer or the customer may have to request it.
Have you tried the other company with the approach that the telephone system belongs to the customer not them.Maybe they don't want to give out "their" password but they should be willing to default it for the customer.
