Hello.
I'm thinking about maybe updating the software for the idcs 500 system after reading some of the other post on this message board but I was wondering if anyone could answer these questions about release 2.37.
1. Is this the latest version of the L-version software?
2. Do I need release # 2 in order to update the software?
3. Is the software update included or does it need to be purchased separately.
4. The Customer database remains the same during the update?
5. What major new MMC# and features are included in the new version?
6. What exactly is involved in updating? Is it a quick or involved process?
I'm basically trying to see if its worth the time to update this software and whats involved.
Thanks for your help.

1. Is this the latest version of the L-version software?
***NO, Release 1.40 is the latest on the Release 1 500 and 2.44 is the latest release on the Release 2 500
2. Do I need release # 2 in order to update the software?
**** If you have an MCP 1, then yes, you will need to upgrade to and MCP 2, SCP 2, and LCP 2.
3. Is the software update included or does it need to be purchased separately.
**** Software upgrades are available free of charge from Samsung Tech Support.
4. The Customer database remains the same during the update?
**** It depends on what version you are coming from. It is advised if you are upgrading more than 4 software levels, then you must reprogram by hand.
5. What major new MMC# and features are included in the new version?
**** If you call Samsung Tech Support they can provide you a copy of the release notes for any software version. This will tell you all the bugs corrected and all the new features added.
6. What exactly is involved in updating? Is it a quick or involved process?
**** Depending on the version you are coming from it could involve a complete reprogram. However if the customer is on pretty rescent software, then all you will have to do is upgrade the MCP, LCP, SCP, MGI, and TEPRI cards. YOu should allow about 10 minutes for each card. Only that card whill be out of service while upgrading.
Staying with the most rescent version of software is deffiantly worth it. New versions of software add more functionality to the system as well as correct any bugs from the previous versions. It's Free!!
