One of my customers just bought another company and it has a idcs 500 on a T. They want to get rid of the T and go analog. from what Ive read it requires swapping out a card.

By no means am I a phone expert, Im a cabling contractor that does phone systems only when I have no other choice.

My questions are
Whats required to swap out the card and is it something I should try or sub out?

Its a small office around 6 incoming lines and 10 extensions, is the price of the card required comparable to just getting a smaller system?

Last, anybody in the Greenbelt MD area interested in helping out.

Thanks

You need a Trunk C1 card it will give you 8 analog line connections. It will require reprogramming and removing the T1 card.
If you have no experience with Samsung I would recommend a dealer.

Thanks CMDL guy, I will keep that in mind.

I was going over some pictures I had taken and noticed an adtran TSU 120 in the mix. Am I correct in assuming if I remove the adtran and connect the analog lines it wont require any reprograming ?

That depends on whether the Adtran is using an FX card to convert the T1 channels to analog or if it is in place to seperate data channels from voice. Another possibility is that the Adtran may only be in place to act as a CSU / DSU but since there are more basic(and thus cheaper) Adtran units available I doubt it.

I would check to see if there are any FX cards in the Adtran and if the DCS is connected with a Trunk C1 or a T1 card.

If the Adtran is equipped with FX cards and is converting the T1 to analog, then yes, the new lines can be swapped in without reprogramming.

I have a bunch of brand new 8 CO cards that I would be happy to trade for the T-1 card if that would help your costs be better.
