Hi,

I have just inherited the support of a DCSII and I need the PCMMC? software and details of how to connect a laptop to the DCS II so I can make changes to the system. We have just had a local engineer in to change some call attendant features and would prefer to do his in house in the future.

Can anyone tell me where to get the software and if there is anything odd about the cable to connect a pc to the DCs?

Thanks,
Microman

I believe you have to have the ksu level of PCMMC software or higher in your laptop to do PCMMC.

We don't have a DCS II so that might be what we call a 50si or iDCS 100 or iDCS 500, I just don't know.

I don't know if our software here would help you or not, or what releases are close or no cigar.

Paige uses a null modem (she believes) 9 pin to 9 pin, laptop to ksu connection.

You would have to add in a modem to call from home instead of the laptop.

Dealers should be able to download it from the website, but would they copy it for you, I don't know.

I'd do most anything for a man in a kilt, but you're so far away. <grin>

Jonnydanger,
The Compact II is a European system that will have different software from the US.I don't think what you have would help him out he needs o get it from a local dealer.

Thanks for the help so far, maybe I am missing something here. Is the money the customer paid for the system not enough to get the means to use it fully?

I need to know before we spend any more money for another customer, is Samsung not going to allow me to legally tinker with the machine using their software?

I understand the points about warranty and dealer support. However, if the owner is happy to dive inside the machine, or pay a non Samsung Engineer to do so, are Samsung still going to be obstructive or would they sell the software or at least the required details of what codes should be sent/expected to do the programming functions?

Hi Bunnie, me and my kilt can be seen on the front steps of the US Capitol building in May each year. That means I will only be half as far as you thought, since DC is about mid way between California and Scotland.

I expect to be in Las Vegas during 2006 so I might get dressed up for that if you think there may some interest there ;->

Microman,
"Thanks for the help so far, maybe I am missing something here. Is the money the customer paid for the system not enough to get the means to use it fully?"

It has nothing to do with making full use of the system. The customer really gains nothing from having the pcmmc program except for a backup of the programming in case of a default.

Because you will have different software in Europe,I can't help you.
The pcmmc program was meant for dealers to program and backup the systems. There is nothing you can't program with pcmmc that you can't do from any display keyset except for making a backup of the customers programming.
If you want to program it then I suggest you get yourself a copy of the manual they are available from Samsung .

As far as the PCMMC goes, it is something that Samsung gives the dealer for free. There are dealers who want to sell you stuff and give that away to support sales that support the quarterly numbers that give them their quarterly discount. It would cost a dealer nothing to email it to you but some are territorial and see others as bad competition.

PMMC uses, not many.
1. You could download the current software and upload the data after replacing the ROM chips. This saves you some time when PCMMC actually works. We had to upgrade s/w chips one night, downloaded just fine, uploaded just fine, and everything worded perfect EXCEPT every inbound call was a constant ring. Downloaded again, same thing. Finally we defautled it and reprogrammed everything. Some versions were fine, some were a disaster.

2. Program remotely off site. This is slow and tedious and tiresome and buggy. Was not worth our effort and had to have just so a modem, not others, etc. Forget it.

Unless you had hundreds of speed dials and hundreds of dids programmed, you could do it just as fast by defaulting and mannual programming.
