OK, had time to think. If you just power off the system and remove the 2x4 and the SVMi do you still have the same problem? If so, you might want to try setting your channels to "Use MGI".

thats weird, because itp to itp doesn't go thru the switch.. (it actually cool, if you start a conversation up between to itp phones then disconnect the switch you can still talk forever on the two itp phones)

I think its a codec setup issue. the switch sounds like its sending out a codec the phones don't understand correctly.

I still got a strong guess that changing the info in 840 to "use MGI channel" is a good lead if you have removed all the cards that you can and it still happens. I have seen a 2x4 cause the exact issue that you are talking about. Once I pulled it out and checked again it was fine. It was putting trash on the backplane

my partner in crime dug around and just happened to notice in 845 (i think is what he said) that some setting (jitter) was set for 120ms and a different codec. he changed those settings and it worked fine.

still wierd that the softphone worked.

hey chris you posted earlier that the jitter was default along with the codec

so what changed ??

In 845 did you change the codec to 729?
