What has been anyone's experience in using the internal modem (p/n 7249) on DX80/120's
For the most part we either program locally or step people over the phone of what to do but we would like "easier" access. I am not sure if that will be an oxymoron with the 7249 module
Thanks All

We have installed modems in all of our DX80/120 installs. I believe that they have saved us a lot of time and our customers--a lot of money. However---they can be very frustrating at times. Also, some of the programming just doesn't seem to be received at this end. It's there at the system, but my end says that there is nothing programmed. Sometimes it's a lot like golfing in the dark.

Years ago, when all of the customers had copper lines, and I had copper lines---connections seemed to be much easier. In the last 5-6 years or so, connection, handshake etc has been more difficult. I still rely on this procedure for most of our programming, but it just seems that I have more trouble lately. I have a copper line, an external modem, and a modem filter.

Compared to our IP programming with another system ---well, it just doesn't compare. It's still fun, though, and very convenient---as I do most of the programming after hours---usually later in the evening. It works really well if there is a service tech on site doing stuff, and I'm programming. We're on cell phones and he can tell me immediately if things have changed.

Thanks for the insight. I can relate to the "old copper POTS" world--but I don't think we'll be there anymore. Don't work too late tonight.
