Iam think that the problem is a bad block.tbl file. You can copy the saved file to the active one if you can get to the dos prompt.

So the idea is that I might be able to get into DOS even if the hard drive has crashed?

Is DOS running on the hard drive or some type of internal flash memory on the SVMI?

How do I get to the DOS Prompt?

Do I use Window's Hyperterminal

Settings Bits per seconds 38,400
Data bits 8
Parit none
stop bits 1
flow control none
ANSI emulation
line wrap set to NO

Do I have to change my COM port on my computer also to 38,400?

Serial Cable with crossed pins 2 and 3 which is basically a NULL modem connected to a regular serial cable?

or am I suppose to use another method to connect into the system?

Will this work only if the drive corrupted files but a running drive or should this work if the drive is completely dead(and not spinning)?

Thanks .

Do you have a laptop to IDE adapter? If yes just pull out the disk drive and add like second drive in a desktop computer or a USB Disk drive for a laptop. Do you see the drive and the directorys? I always use a Norton Ghost to make a image from a SVMI (Disk or Flash) and I ghost a bad disk or flash SVMI. If none of this is available just send this SVMI to Samsung, seems like a bad disk. Good luck.

mathrap, Thank you for the great advice.

I am going to order a laptop to IDE adapter and see if I can get to DOS.

You say that you have used norton Ghost image file to fix a corrupted file on the drive?

It sounds like this problem has also happened to you a few times. Its really great that you had the idea of backing up an image in case you had to fix a hard drive that crashed or files that got corrupted.

Let me ask you, do you happen to know around how large this ghosted image file is?

Is hard drive image and flash based image are the same?

The SVMI is always resetting itself night. Perhaps it was stuck in the middle of a read/write process when it reset itself causing a corrupted file?

I might need your help once I get my IDE to laptop hard drive adaptor or repair the hard drive corrupted files.

Thanks again for your advice.
