I have a customer with a Prostar 816 with a solid redial button lit on the attendant phone. The customer has tried just pressing the button, unplugging the phone, everything short of turning the ksu on and off. I hate to recommend doing that, as easy as it sounds, because I haven't done any service on this switch in many years, and I don't know what kind of shape the memory back-up batery is in. I'm not in a big hurry to be on the hook for a free re-programming service call for a customer 75 miles away. Is there some keystroke the customer may have inadvertently used, or is this an indication of a system on its way out of service? Any help you can offer may help me sleep a little better.

I'm not sure but could it be a simple as the number that used to be on that redial button was removed with the phone being in another state besides "idle"? A call to the console may give you the phone number but I think you will have to put a phone on the port and clear it.

Someone could have played with MMC 80, Keyset Button Programming.
I would go into Program 80 and see what the buttons are.
It could be that Redial is on the RDL button AND some other button.
The redial button "flickers" when the system is making an auto busy redial (3 attempts) but is not solid for any feature.
If it is not MMC 80, I think you have a memory dump to do.

Could it be a feature that's been set. Like maybe outgoing call block? Got me!

I'm willing to try the MMC 80 test. The customer is pretty sharp if I walk them thru some programming stuff....

Just go into Program 80 and push the buttons to see what is there. That is so simple even I could do it. The button to code is on the Program 80 page.
