Had the same problem on the same VM. The power supply went bad. Do you have any spare cards?

Yes , agree with Pvj with the Candence almost is the disk ,try to connect with the Hyperterminal to see what happening, and try to hear for the noise or clicking on the boot sequence.

This could be described as Samsung's most expensive item in terms of replacement.
The hard drives often went bad, least expensive supplier type of situation. I've seen 40 to 50 percent of the power supplies on the board also go bad.
There is one guy doing repairs on this in Florida and if you google "Cadence repair" or search in eBay you will find him. Sometimes it is cheaper to bid for it on eBay and catch a little price break.
We try to move everyone with a dead Cadence over to SMVI-8e if they have a DCS or to a SMVI-4e if they have a 50 or 100.
They will keep dying no matter how many times they are fixed.

And the least expensive supplier of the harddrives was????? Toshiba! Lets face the fact that Samsung is not the only supplier with harddrive problems either. If you take a laptop drive and run it 24/7/365 its a matter of time before drive is going to fail.No manufacturer is immune from that.

Rob, as mentioned earlier, when you turn it off then on, do you hear the harddrive start to spin then clunk out? Does it even try to spin or does the red light just come on and nothing else?

I beleive if you hook up hyperterminal to the cadence you'll see minicmd. This basically means the drive is NFG.
