I just upgraded a 100 and a 7400 to the newest software for both the MGI & MCP cards. Between the two systems I get a talk path both ways. Plug a local ITP phone in I get a talk path both ways. Plug a remote talk path without a firewall I get a talk path both ways. Now Take the same remote ITP phone put it behind a firewall I dont get a one way talk path, they can here me I cant here them. No here is the really odd thing....If I point my ITP phone still behind the firewall to a different 100 or different 7400 that have not be upgraded yet I get a talk path both ways..

Looking in MMC 840 In the 100/7400 that I cant get a talk path with when behind a firewall I use voice port 9000 which it should be right?

Looking in MMC 840 in the 7400 that I can get a talk path with when behind a firewall I use voice port 9000 which is what it should be right?

I'm at a total loss as to why it wont work. I called Samsung tech support they say it must be my router then why does it work on one 100/7400 and note the other. I asked them do you recommend any routers they said "we cant" I'm pulling my hair out here. Any thoughts or help would be great.

Oh I might add I even defaulted the 100 so all that was programmed was 830 & 831 & 840 again no talk path from behind a working firewall.

Thanks
Jordan

There are certain things that make a phone work behind a firewall like is MMC 830 the private IP should be assigned as an internal IP and the Public IP should be the WAN IP on the router. It should also be set for private with public. In MMC 831 it should be set up the same way (different internal IP oviously). In MMC 840 for the IP extension it should be set for Public/firewall. You also need at the main site port 6000 forwarded to the MCP and ports 30000-30030 forwarded to the MGI card. On occasion you may need to forward port 9000 at the phone end to the phone. Also have you upgraded the MGI software? It's best to make sure that is on the newest release as well. There isn't much other than what I mentioned to get a remote ITP working behind NAT.

Both 100/7400 system are setup exactly the same using the same DSL modems & routers and port forwarding etc.. Both system are setup corretly as samsung has checked that. Like I said I can use a ITP phone behind a firewall to the 100/7400 without the newest MGI software. I CAN"T use a ITP phone behind a firewall on the 100/7400 with the newest MGI software. ITP phone uses the same local firewall for both tests one works the other does not. I should note that the working 100/7400 have a MGI3 8 port in the 100 and a MGI64 in the 7400. In the non working 100/7400, the 100 has a MGI16 v1.17 and the 7400 has a MGI64 latest release.

Does Samsung have this version info? Maybe the systems and versions on the cards aren't matching up. Sounds like you've done all the troubleshooting, it should be up to Samsung at this point to look at the systems and find a solution for you. Has Samsung tried to register a phone to the system with the issue to see if they get the same results?

Mininet,

What is the main node ?? what are the remote nodes??
Please send us your VoIP config so we can look at it.
i have to agree with Samsung it is a port problem

If host system is public, then 830 and 831 need to be public only with public ips in both IP addy and Public IP addy respectively. If host system is behind a firewall then both 830 and 831 both need to be public with private with prive ip in ip addy and public that is forwarded to private ips in the public ip field in both 830 and 831 respectively. Get your list of ports from your SP Apps section of any current manual for the port forwarding.

840 should be private and not use mgi for any phone on local network. 840 should be public w firewall and use mgi (usually but not always) if your ip phone is behind a firewall on the remote location. And public only if it is public only. If these settings dont work, 90% of the time you have an issue on your network (router most likely). If you still have issues pm me.

There are certain router (few and far between) that will not allow remote voip traffic to function properly. These symptoms are usually intermittant.
