Hello there people, I’m new to this game and was hoping some one could answer my question. When connecting the DCS-816 to analogue incoming BT lines do you have to go through a master socket. I know you connect through 26/1 W-BL/BL-W on the champ connecter but do you just connect straight to the BT line with no master socket? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, no master socket is needed, just jumper straight from bt nttp. you will need a samsung engineer to program trunks though.

Thanks leemc1978 thats great. Quick qestion though just so i don't look a fall if i do get a samsung engineer, What are trunks?
Also if system conects directly to the bt nttp and you are only using one incoming line for the whole system, how do you connect to a ADSL router. Because if you have taken away the master socket where do you put the ADSL filter which gives you your RJ11 socket for the router?

Although you don't need the master socket it is the demarcation point between the BT network and your equipment, so I usually connect the pair to terminals 2 & 5 on the removable section of the NTE5.
If the line is also used for ADSL I replace the removable section of the NTE5 with one incorporating an ADSL filter, this prevents people accidentally unplugging your PABX or alarm dialler. These filtered NTE5 faceplates are available from Farnell, CPC, Solwise, Clarity and other resellers in the UK.
You can find many definitions of trunks, but in this context they are the connections between your DCS-816 and the BT exchange.
HTH, Tom
