I have a SVMi-8E card on an iDCS500 and need to automate the backup. I have a note on how to backup via FTP, using the serial port to put the card into "backup & restore". The big problem is how to reset the card after the backup, does this really need to be done? I haven't tried this method yet, tonight I get the chance. I can get the IT dept to write a script for the backup if I can find out how to send the reset, normally MMCXXX. Maybe I should just use wireshark!

Paul Welcome to Sundance Tech-Talk. I made an edit to your post to remove the technician level MMC. We allow only MMC's that are admin. or user level. Thanks for your understanding. It looks like you want to combine the reset with the backup procedure. To the best of my knowledge that cannot be done. Why is it a problem to reset the voicemail from any phone when you complete your backup? Are you trying to back-up remotely?

The backup was to done at night time, unattended. I don't have a digital phone on my desk either!

I back up my companys voicemail's remotely using WS FTP Pro. Then I reset the voicemail when done using OS on the phone system through a VPN connection. Works great! Done this on the 100 and 500. IF you have a good VPN client that you can get in away from the office to the voicemail and system then you should be good to go.

You have to shut down the card to do a backup. Then you have to reboot it to put it back online.
