Guys, I am completely stymied here, and I'll take ANY suggestions!

I am connecting a Qwest provided IAD to a clients DCS. The IAD is conditioned for CAS (standard T-1), E&M Wink, B8zs/ESF. I have set all the appropriate parameters in the DCS (this is FAR from the first T-1 I've done on a DCS). I cannot get the DCS and the Qwest provided Adtran 924e to sync up. I have tried every combination of cable pin out, straight through, crossover etc and still no luck. I have even tried putting an Adtran T-1 Ace CSU between the 924E and the DCS, when I do that, the Ace goes clear in both directions but the 924E still does not sync. If I plug a loopback plug into the 924E, it goes clear.

I have cabled from tx tip on the 924 to rcv tip in the DCS and tx ring on the 924 to rcv ring on the DCS and Vice Versa, still no luck....

any suggestions???

If I am reading this right you are trying to pass through B8ZS/ESF to the DCS. The DCS only works with AMI/SF. An Adtran ACE ESF (one with the display, not the standard ACE) or a TSU120 would convert the signal from ESF/B8ZS to AMI/SF for you. Don't know if the Qwest provided equipment can change to AMI/SF for you on the fly without reconfiguring the circuit from the C.O. (Which usually takes a while).

This is a standard, read 'old' DCS? News to me. Are you sure you are not talking about an Officeserv, i100, i500, 7000-series or the like? By DCS, I mean the older plastic cabinets (up to three) that take plastic-encased cards, have PSU40 or PSU60 power supplies, ROM1 or ROM2 card ....

If it is really a DCS, what software version? We never continued past 4.6 to 4.8+, maybe someone I missed.

Nope....this is a plain old DCS ver 2.3....PSU40 etc, etc. That being said...I've solved part of the problem by installing a CSU/DSU that allowed me to go ahead and set the DCS up as D4/AMI and then convert the AMI to B8ZS in the CSU/DSU. I'm now able to call out but am having a problem getting the DID digits from the carrier. Of course their response is that they aren't seeing a wink from us...I, of course, asked how we were able to make a call if we weren't sending a wink....anyway...this convo will continue with them until I get it resolved, and thanks very much for your response.

On A OLD DCS (gray cabinets) does not work with a
PRI. The reason I bring this up because alot of
providers will only use a PRI with DID's.

If you have a vender that will provide DID service on a T1, then you need to find out how many digits
they are sending to you and what is the range of numbers.

When you find this info you will program the DCS to accept the DID digits.
