Can I use any hard drive in a Starmail system or does it need to be something specific? I just purchased a Starmail from Ebay and it's working fine but the noisy hard drive is making me a little nervous.

I'm pretty sure you can't do this and if you do find a way to copy the starmail hard drive your breaking the law! Pretty sure Samsung always used seagate or toshiba for their hard drives though. I believe the format is something proprietary to samsung making it hard to clone. Not saying it can't be done but should'nt rather! Noisy, that's a definite sign it's going to the bad! Starmail parts are getting a little scarce. I still have several in service ,and on a personal note I never really liked the starmail's

Do a google search for Starmail repair, there is a company in Florida that repairs Starmail for $xxx.

clgr you are right. The hard drives are proprietary , there is a company that sells copied disks which are new and they are located in FL.

center for Samsung and can repair and replace starmail harddrives.
