I have searched and read every Post and I am still unsure. (Although that comes with age)
It is verified that you need: EXPN A1, Trunk Cards with a suffix 1 (a1, b1, c1) Do you need: Rom I

SORRY, Wrist Twitch...........
I have searched and read every Post and I am still unsure. (Although that comes with age)
It is verified that you need: EXPN A1, Trunk Cards with a suffix 1 (a1, b1, c1)
Do you need: Rom I or Rom II ?
The Manual says (1995 ver.) "a Set of 4 EPROMS"
Would a system with Existing Cadence VM (4.x and above) ALREADY be CID Ready? Does the DCS have Eproms Labled CID? Or is it by Software Level, now (was it ever a CID only eprom?)
With DCS-Compact needing Eproms that SAY "CID" and using Misc I and RAM II....sometimes Posters mix the two systems. Isn't even the Latest DCS-C eproms required to be Labled "CID" ??
THANKS.....

From the Prostar DCS Technical Manual manual:
"HARDWARE PROVISIONS
In order to install Caller ID on a DCS, you must have the following DCS equipment available:
* An Expansion A1 card * A Trunk A1, Trunk B1 or Trunk C1 card * A set of four EPROMs containing the Caller ID version of the system software"
Last time I did one of those upgrades, more than a year ago, I recall the EPROMs had "CID" on the sticker, but I could be mistaken. Check with your supplier. A system with a Cadence VM isn't necessarily going to be CID ready; Cadence does not require CID capability. Is Cadence listing the caller's number when replaying messages? If so you're good to go.
The fastest way to see if you have capable software is to just do the fundamental CID programming and see if it works.
MISC1, RAM2 are DCS Compact parts.

Thanks Catfish......
Still no Difinitive answers ?????
I can not find CID software for the DCS for Sale anywhere, makes me feel it is included in newer versions.
I upgraded a DCS to SVMI a few years back and put in 2,6 or 2.8 S/W but do NOT remember it saying anything about CID. It is to far away to stick my head in and check.
An existing Client (we didn't install) Has Cadence VM. So we know it is a later version S/W ..they now want CID. I quoted only the cards. It would be nice to go in Knowledgeable.
THANKS

If you have a Cadence in the system then you have at the least a version 4.1 DCS software.I think 4.8 was the last and I'm pretty sure that all version 4 software supported the CID option.
Update I checked the technical updates on the DCS and version 3.X and later included the CID feature so it is only hardware you need to worry about.

Have you checked that the trunks have the cid turned on in - xxx ? I'm not sure what your compact is ? I think it may be our DCS70 in Australia, is it a steel cased unit ? also there was two series of trunk cards - the first series only had cid in the 3 trunk card and then in the new series it is in the 4 trunk and the 6 trunk card, the older 6 trunk with power fail does not have cid.
Hope this helps, if you post a photo of your model I will know what it is compared to what we have in Australia

Thank You so much. I guess my question isn't asked that much. The Compact gets all the CID questions.

If I could add my two cents. When he said he had a cadence right off the bat I knew he was talking about a DCS. The Compact never used the Cadence.
Now on the Caller Id you do need a ROM 2 with V.4.0 and above. The version has caller ID. this info comes from the general Discription. I agree with Catfish, you also need a expansion card A1 and trunk cards with C1. If you have below V 4.0 you will need to order new software chips.
