I have a customer with a 2 cabinet OS-500. They have one of the original MCP2 processors with the smart media card.

They are having issues with the processor and I want to put them into a new MCP2. Here's the question. If I put a new MCP2 processor in the system, just buy the M version software on the MMC+ card, can I then just copy the L version software onto the MMC+ card. I've already downloaded the L version from GSBN, but not sure if there is there will be some type of restriction if I try and put 'L' version software onto an MMC+ card that had 'M' version on it.

Just can't see spending over 1K more for 'L' version software if I don't have to. Anyone have any experience or thoughts?

I'm missing something here. You have a 2 cabinet system so don't you already have the L version software on an MMC card? Can't you put the existing MMC card on the new MCP2?

I don't think I was very clear. Yes they do have a two cabinet system with an MCP2. The MCP2 however, is one of the originals that used a smart media card. The new MCP2 I'm getting using the MMC+ card.

Hope that clarifys. Thanks in advance.

You can do what you want no problems.
I do it all the time.
Delete the M software, copy the L software and SCP software, and startup file, plus any tepri software you may want.
