hey all,
I have a 7200 with v4.30. with a branch office with 3 IP phones. Which is working fine. the problem now is that they need a fax at the remote location. and they dont want to order a pots line from ATT. so im wondering if anybody has hooked up a cisco PAP2T (or anything like it) and tied to a samsung system to push analog across to the remote office for faxing. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We have used multi tech ATA’s with some success but you are still completely bandwidth reliant so a couple of lost packets (not due to your equipment) and its all she wrote for that fax. At best you are in the 90 percentile some times 70’s to 80’s. So if your client is comfortable with that go for it. Good Luck

Make sure the ATA supports FAX over IP (not all of them do). Need to make sure you are running G.711 codec (~80k/sec/call) and T.38 enabled.
But as FONEFXR has said, its not reliable, even the VoIP providers will tell you that.

You can also do email gateway. 5 Free license to start. But you will need the fax card as well. An option. Get your fax from anywhere. Selling point.
