Hello,

We have taken over a small com company here in Spokane, and they have installed about 14 idcs500 phone systems.

It is my job to take over and learn the ropes.

All seems to be going ok... programming is simple using OSM_500 R2, and phone system info is easy to configure.

My problem, which I can't find here or on Samsung's Tech site, which we are a member, is the Group phones, when not answered, going to a specific stations voice mail.

None of these systems have an AA card, so I would like to take a group of say, 5 phones, and if no answer, have it go to the voice mail of one of those 5 phones as the "quote-unqoute" main line of that group.

i.e. ext 210, 211, 212, 213 and 214, ring thru group 505. If no answer by any line, I want to ring to voicemail of extension 201.

When I setup the overflow port as 210, the extension 210 does ring... but never goes to voicemail if not answered.

If i set the overflow port to 549, it goes to the main voicemail message of the phone system, not to the vm of 210

Call forwarding is setup under MMC-102 for extension 210, as No-Answer 549 (voicemail), and Busy as 549, plus MMC 316 is set to 549 as well

Since the extension 210 does ring after the overflow timeout, the transfer seems to work from group to extension, but then when we ask 210 to go to voicemail (549) it seems that the system can't do the 2nd transfer request from extension 210 to 549.

Any ideas?

Thanks for you any help pointing me in the right direction.

Sam

Thanks for the Welcome, pvj,

I did try that today... using group 505 for calls, with no answer transferring to group 515, with Overflow timeout set to 0 (zero) to VMail Group 549 with no answer, then in the VoiceMail for Group 515, I activated FWD, and FWD'd to VBX-210, and it does work...

Just funny how you have to transfer from one group to another, then to it's VM, then take the message and frwd to another vm box...

WOW... do they make any phone system that actually "doesn't need" this much "overhead" to do a simple "No One Answered in the Group 505 so go to Voice Mail for 210..."

I do have this working, but I have another problem because of it... all the voicemails transferred to the VM for 210, when the voicemail plays, it says... MESSAGE FORWARDED FROM 515, so I am loosing the ACTUALY Caller's ID information.

Is there a place I can set the CID pass-thru all the way to VBX-210 of outside caller?

Thanks for info

Yes the Samsung 500 and SVMi can do it very easily.

Here is the way I prefer to handle station group calls to voice mail.

In Station Group 505 set overflow to the voice mail group 549, then in the SVMi under "Forward Station" menu add an entry on the second page like this "505 goto MBX 210" that way when the system forwards 505 to the voice mail it will look at this menu and see that a forwarded call from 505 is to be sent to MBX 210 (I usually do this in the Forward Trunk, Direct Trunk and Direct Station menus also) I have found this to be very reliable and don't have to mess with multiple mailboxes and recordings.

Thanks TPTech302

I think I will have to keep using dual "Station Groups" for the Overflow handling, since I have 4 or 5 groups of phones that want to do this feature.

If I send the 505 overflow to 549, and then do the FWD STATION on the second page like, "505 goto MBX 210" I would be limited to just one "forward" wouldn't I?

Or can I put Multiple "forward" entries in the main 549 SVMi, menu entries..

Like group 505 to 549, then 2nd page 1st new entry "505 goto MBX 210"
and group 506 to 549, then 2nd page 2nd new entry "506 goto MBX 220"
and group 507 to 549, then 2nd page 3rd new entry "507 goto MBX 230"
etc.
etc.
etc.

Yes you can do multiples in the Forward Station menu of the SVMi, just like you have in your post. I think page three in the SVMi allows for entries also.

I have also used it where a boss wants the secretary to handle his messages (i.e. 210 GOTO MBX 209" when a call is forwarded to the SVMi it looks at where it was forwarded from (210) the checks the "Forward Station" menu to see what it is to do.

I really like the SVMi I find you can do most any type of call routing with it.

Ok all...

I have it working just fine... TPTech.. there is no 549 mailbox associated with the 549 group, so I just left it as it is with overflow from one group to the next, then into VM.

Thanks All

Correct 549 is the station group for voice mail and should not have a mailbox.

Good to hear you got it all working!!!
