Samsung is dropping the ITP 5100 series phones effective 12/10? Anyone else hear this?

What about the DS series digital phones? Not that I would miss them.

They have not announced the DS phones. But I would think they would drop the Falcons before the DS.

Falcons are still outselling the DS phones from what I hear. In my opinion DS was a step down. Smaller display, base doesnt stay secure and hard to wall mount, No 14 button add on module. A good example of form before function.

I know someone at Samsung with inside scoop but have not asked permission to use their name in the following although this may not be a secret by now.
In our conversation they stated that the new SMT series telephones are taking the place of the IPT series that are definitely being discontinued. They are not going to EVER change, upgrade or remodel the look of the digital series phones because the Koreans feel that IP sets are where the future is and they are not putting any money into digital sets, the falcon sets will also soon be discontinued.
Personally I like the DS Series more than the IDCS (Falcon) and when I produce both at a sales demo customers prefer the DS over the IDCS.
>One thing I always do is program upper case letter characters on all extensions with the DS phones. The IDCS display is like the jitterbug or a large print bible. lol
>Yes, a small add-on for the DS style would have been a nice follow up. >Yes, a back lit display on the DS5021D would have been a nice follow up too. >Yes, a TRUE full duplex speakerphone on the DS5021D would have been nice.
>A tiny dab of lock tight or glue will keep the base on a phone for a fellow who moves his phone around and yet you can still break the tiny bond if needed. >On a flat wall the DS phones sit nice and rarely do I have to drill a center whole in the reversible base to assist in secure mounting.
Members may mail me through this board, thank you.

We've just been told that the iDCS (Falcon) are discontinued, along with the 24b Euro Display.
Time to upgrade all the DCS and DCS70 (compact 2) sites out there

Since you can still plug in a DCS 12/24B phone into the 7000 series and have it work (and have keymaps for it), I'm not too worried. Samsung has been fantastic about backward compatibility over the years.

Yeah, i do like that I can upgrade a dcs customer to OS7000 and keep the handsets, makes us a cheaper upgrade for the customer.
Was cheaper still when the 500 was still around, use all the station and line cards.
