Just thought I'd ask.
We typically buy all Flash based systems figuring the whole 'moving parts' thing is taken out of the equation. Do people purchase the HDD version just for more storage space?
Sad memories of the Cadence systems also influenced us to stick with mostly flash-based SVMi voice mails.
Anyone having any issues with HDD systems over time?
I know that when the SVMi system for the DCS came out the flash systems were very slow for some reason, but I don't think that is an issue any longer.
We are doing an out of state system where a customer may want more storage then the flash version offers, but we are scared to go with the HDD option.

Only 1 known user with extreme traffic that had to be changed to a HD from flash drive. Their use was odd & would not change their ways. 340 users & they all liked to use Broadcast to send VM's to everyone, all the time as a back-up to e-mail.

Aside from the capacity issue, I think this is like a Ford or Chevy thing. I've been told the HDD is less likely to corruption. We have had our share of flash problems with menu blocks etc. getting wiped out(mostly on Svmi4). The life of the HDD is in question but I still have Cadence systems running.

You still have Cadences running? Wow. Those were dropping like flies back in 2000-2001.
I guess we'll stick with the Flash version since they have been reliable for us and maybe limit the retention of messages timer to 14 days, except for the boss.

RM - if I were you I'd be out there pitching them a 7200/s or at least let them know their voice mail has been proven unreliable and could croak any day; that they will lose all their messages, etc.

Being a municipality they have no money so I am told. Get this: They are paying for about 24 copper lines. Explained with switching to a new system and get them on PRI would pay for itself. They don't even get caller ID on the business lines! A police station without caller ID!
