I am converting from analog lines to an integrated circuit with a "router" and rj-11 ports for voice. I have a Digitech telephone system with a base unit and an 8x16 unit. Is there a specific color coding cable pair to have the lines appear on certain buttons on a telephone? I tried making a 4-pair cable w/o, b, w/b, o on one end to plug into the phone system and 2 rj-11's to plug into the router. I can get the lines to ring on the phones but they don't ring on the same buttons as previous. I can get some of them to match up but not all the lines on the Line Jacks 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8. Also the base unit has Line Jacks 1&2M, Line Jacks 3&4M but when I plugged into those jacks nothing rang. Thank You

Welcome to the board. You've made any an easy job complicated. Going from POTS to another provider should be a simple matter of swinging cross-connects and considering age of your equipment you probably have a defective port or two. Call someone in before you loose any more business!

Thanks for your response. My first thought would be to swing cross connects as well but based on some factors I couldn't do that. I was able to identify lines 1 and 2 pretty quickly so there was no lose of service. The tricky part came when I tried to wire the ports marked Line 3&4, Line 5&6 & Line 7&8 to get them to match up to ring on the same button as before. With a lot of trial and error I got it to work but was looking for a definitive answer for future reference. I also agree they may have had a bad port or two. I was also wondering what Line 1&2M on the main unit was for compared to Line 1&2 with the auxilary ports on the 8x16 unit.

Clearly 1&2 M are the 9th and 10th physical lines or the first two lines in the "moo" box. It's called a Moo because the expansion box starts with an M part number.
The reason the main board says Aux is because Comdial uses a loop device on the 3rd pair of that jack to bring out line 2 to external equipment. If you put a regular phone on the 3rd pair, it would draw dial tone from the second pair and mark it busy to the KSU.

When I made a 2 line jack/cable using blue and orange pairs and plugged it into line 1&2 aux the lines appeared on the 7700 series telephone on the horizontal softkeys bottom row button 2 and 3 (same as they were with the old service). But when I made the same jack/cable and plugged into line 3&4 aux the lines appeared on the top row button 4&5 when they previously appeared on bottom row button 4&5. Then I changed the pairs to green and brown and they rang on the right buttons (bottom row buttons 4&5). Trying to use logic/determine how to wire so that line 5 appears on top row button 1 and line 6 appears on verticsl softkeys bottom left button. Again, somehow I did get it working but would like to know for future reference in case I need to add additional lines.

A programming manual and button mapping is your friend. How would I know how the buttons were mapped? By default, A1-A14 is line 1-14. That must not be your system's map, so the best way to know what is programmed is to read the database.
