I am installing a PRI card in a iDCS500. If the card installs in slot 1, does slot 2 need to be empty? Also, do I need a clock card? I have read conflicting info in the manuals. Thanks.

No the card does not need to be in slot one and slot after the pri card does not need to be empty also the clocking is done on the pri card so no need for anything extra . You find on the old dcs and compact 2s you need to have a clocking card and a spare slot after the pri , you could even put in a tepri card does the same thing

It does however need to be in slot 1,2 or 3 of the cabinet. It will not work in 4 though 9.

The clocking is done on the MCP(2) not on the (TE)PRI card
