I tried to install an SVMi-2E card into a DCS-816 today, but after installation when i turned on the power the system wouldnt boot up and I think there was even some smoke that came out of the CCU!
After taking the card out and leaving it on for some time, it finally booted..
Nothing seems to be wrong, but just to be sure, what did i fry?
And why did the card behave like that? I did install it correctly.

Does it have the 3 sets of connectors? or only 2?
The SVMi-2e cards were only supported on newer ksu's, and you need 2.02 or lateer firmware from memory.

As nameless says needs to be 2.02 or higher software i would look at your power unit might be on last legs and extra power needed might be reason it wouldt come up also as he says needs 3 sets of conextors to work not two
