Hello dear all, I have read various topics posted on this forum and I would like to ask you a few questions so that I will minimize any errors in the process of VoIp connectivity.
The scenario is that I have a 7200 officeserv system at the corporate office and I would like to establish communication with a remote location that has its own private LAN but no VPN connection with the corporate office. They will use one IP phone.
1) I have read the technical manual regarding the cards required. According to the manual I should have an MGI card and MGI daughter cards. An MCP card also. Do I need any other cards for VoIP functionality?
2) Regarding licensing. Do I need to buy licenses for the ip phone only or are any extras required?
3) Regarding configuration a) I have read various topics on this forum and I would like help on this please. Port forwarding must be done on both corporate and remote location or only at the corporate side? This is done only if there is a firewall enabled router like Cisco? b) Do I have to set up MCP and MGI ip addresses also or only the public ip addresses for the MCP and MGI? c) What is the option PUBLIC to PUBLIC on setting up the IP phone. Could someone explain this please? d) Finally how the remote ip phone can establish communication with the corporate side if there is no configuration for stating how to find the MGI Ip address. I cannot figure this out. Please help! Thank you!!

plz Gerrya forward me the same pm as I face an almost similar situation with OS7400 ver. 4.46 with MGI64 being linked to a ASTERISK IP-PBX and they want DDI into the OS7400 in a LAN. My plan was to use sip trunks btwn the 2 PBXs and get licensing for 11 Grandstream IP-phones that are connected on the LAN. The Asterisk is to be configured as the SIP SERVER. How feasable is this set up and any suggestions are most welcomed.
heads up

What is the asterisk box going to be used for?
If its for connection of the grandstream ip phones then you don't need it as they can be registered directly onto the OS7400.

I would recommend the OAS card...works great, more cost effective and provides additional features. Easy to setup as well.
