Man, Hal. You always have the answers! Be gentle on me though. I did say that you can drill "pretty much" anywhere.

As recently as a month ago, I witnessed electricians "drilling" holes through these joists with a hammer! Yes, I said hammer. If the hole didn't line up, they just bust a hole through with a hammer. I have seen this for years but thought that certainly by now, this wasn't common practice anymore with all of the rules and regulations. Boy was I wrong!

Here's another one for Boise glulam beams. These are solid laminated beams, not the "I" beam joist as above.
