Same here. They are doing FIOS by central office territory, not by town or county, so people on opposite sides of the street in some areas won't be able to get it. It looks like it's only being done in former Bell areas for now.

I heard yesterday that a large county nearby that is formerly GTE territory has just granted Verizon permission to begin working there. They expect the first availability there within two years. I think that the Bell areas that are already wired for it are live now, but I don't live in one of them to know for sure.

I do know that everything on the subscriber side of the fiber NID is simply CAT5 and coax, and of course, CAT-whatever for voice. No fiber involved on-prem for now.

I've only ever seen Fiber used on-premise for those times where the run is too far for other formats.

We last were asked to do anything with Fiber...oh...about...3 years ago. laugh

It's Northern Michigan...what can I say?

Fiber to my ped, that would be nice. Maybe I'll trench from my ped to my house and plug straight into my router. Anyone got a fussion splicer i can borrow?
