love these customers..... First, I am requested to run J hooks along the edge of the ceiling by the windows. We placed cat 32 J hooks every 4 feet. J hooks were setup as one J hook secured to beam with a second J hook piggbacked so that it looks like a giant "U". work is neat and professional. Ceiling is white, wide open and plenum rated. now the customer wants the "J" hooks to be covered up. I asked Caddy for support and they responded that they never heard of anyone covering up "J" hooks before.
So I am looking for a piece of thin white plastic (Plenum rated) that would wrap around the 2 J hooks and be easy to attach. I noticed that holes are drilled out on each of the J hooks so it should be easy to attach the plastic. the run is about 100 feet. any suggestions?
by the way the customer is an architectural firm. Tj

Why not just spray paint them the same color as the ceiling?

I grieve for you.
The thing about "architect's" is that they may be good at designing a building (note the word may) but they really have no care for how the mechanics of wiring works.
As for a fix are the hooks all in line (the holes) if so then why not a metal flashing like a gutter. In other words some 22 gauge flat flashing folded in a 90 then attached to the hooks

Ceiling is white, wide open and plenum rated.
If it's wide open it's not a plenum or air handling space.

Why not give them a bright green stripe for accent like most architects would suggest for "asthetic" value!! Seriously, I think paint them to match would be the best.

Hal, where would I find more information on what determines a plenum or air handling space? I was told by the architects that this is a plenum space. Tj

seems like if open ceiling was considered plenum then everything in the bldg would need to be plenum
that plenum printer paper is really going to get expensive

where would I find more information on what determines a plenum or air handling space?
NEC Article 100- Definitions
Plenum- A compartment or chamber to which one or more air ducts are connected and that forms part of the air distribution system.
See also:
Article 300.22(C) Other spaces used for environmental air.
This section applies to spaces used for environmental air handling purposes other than ducts and plenums... It does not include habitable rooms or areas of buildings, the prime purpose of which is not air handling.

Exactly!
If the hooks are visible, then they are clearly NOT within the confines of a plenum space unless clear panels are used as ceiling tiles.

I was wondering about the plenum thing myself. Why weren't the cables run above the ceiling (which would have actually been the plenum space)?
