Hi guys. What i need is I am looking for Cat5 Wire in a 50pair Bundle in say lengths of 500-1000ft. I am having trouble finding any and was wondering if you guys knew of a site or a place to get this from?

This will be for a telephone system. The reason i am wanting Cat5 over say Cat3 is because of cable and wire quality. I have found Cat3 in 50-100 pair but not Cat5. Thanks for the help.

Probably for the reason that justbill gave, not necessary to have Cat5 for voice. And, I don't think you would/could/should bundle that many data cables together.

You aren't getting anything going with cat 5 in a dedicated telco installation. I run cat 5 all the time for voice apps but I maintain them at both ends as cat 5 connections so they can do double duty as network lines if needed. With the rush to VOIP it just makes more sense.

Mohawk makes it and you can find resellers by doing a Google search. It's almost 4000.00 a spool of 1 thousand feet. At 4 bucks a foot why not just pull from multiple boxes of cat 5? Sure would be cheaper

If you really are hell-bent on throwing money away, you could always run two 25 pair CAT5 cables. It's much more readily-available.

Here goes my broken record again on this subject:

Taking a circuit that comes in over CATZero cable pairs and extending it to the equipment over CAT5 gains you a great big CAT nothing. If you could still get CAT1 cable, that would even be superior to the cable that brings service to the building.

Yes, most switchboard cable is considered to be category one or less. This whole subject is simply based upon marketing hype. DS1 and DS3 equipment racks are wired with switchboard cable all day, every day, using those "forbidden and antiquated" wire-wrapped connections.

By the way, the only difference between switchboard cable and standard inside wiring cable is the fact that the copper conductors are tinned. This makes them more effective for soldered or wire-wrapped connections. Switchboard cable is used regularly in wiring CO's and cellular sites.

All of the network connections in my house, both for computers and IP phones are riding upon extra pairs in D station cable (category nothing) and everything works just fine. The Panasonic phones use the first two pairs, and yes, within the same cable as the LAN connections that use the other two.
