Good afternoon everyone. I assure you all, that I'm the biggest n00b ever in this forum, and I hope to change all that very soon.
I'm an IT guy. I just recently inherited our company's phone system (Avaya Definity and Intuity Audix voice mail systems.) I've pretty much got a handle on maintenance of how the phone system works, so my boss decided to put me to a test.
I'm now at a new company site, staring at a Dmarc that has 4 lines and 1 fax/dsl line. I have 5 RCA office phones that each need the 4 lines run to them. Beside the dmarc I have another 66 block that can be used. I've been researching trying to figure out the best way to set this up, and I've come not much closer to my original plan. Thus far, I have run 4pair cables from the phone room to the desks. I figured that in each run, I could use all 4 pair for all 4 lines. However, I don't know how to make the 4 lines in the dmarc splitable for 5 phones. Any suggestions?
I know, this is the dumbest question you've all heard. I'm also sure that I've explained this very poorly. I would like to thank you all for taking time to read my wall of text, and will appreciate any suggestions given.
Thank you all, and I hope you know.. anyone that can do this work is my hero
Sincerely, Dustin Park (Bennett International Group)

Dustin, your question is certainly not the dumbest one we've ever heard. Welcome to the forum and rest assured that we'll do our best to help you.
RCA 4 line phones = bad short term solution.
I know exactly what you are asking, as it is a frequently-asked question here. It's best that you terminate each 4-pair cable on the 66 block separately. Look at the side markings on the block itself. If it says "66M1-50, then you can terminate six 4-pair cables down either side of the block.
Then, all that you need to do is "daisy-chain" a jumper wire between each pair to the appropriate line on the network interface. When I say daisy chain, I mean that you should punch it down with the NON-cutting side of the punch tool blade so that the jumper wire loops in and back out without being cut.
If it really gets bad, we have plenty of members in Georgia who might be able to come out to assist, for a charge of course. Feel free to post back if you need further clarification in the meantime.

After terminating all of your wiring on the 66 blocks. You will cross connect line one to the white blue pair and without cutting the wire connect it to the concurrent white blue pairs until complete. Leaving the run for the fax out of this pattern, repeat with line two on the white orange pairs, line three one the white green pairs and line four on the white brown pairs. At the jack end you will terminate the white blue pair and the white orange pair to the correct color code on jack one. On jack two you will terminate the white green pair to the white blue color code on the jack. Then the white brown to the white orange color code on the jack. Welcome to the board and good luck. OOPS Ed beat me to it :thumb:

I didn't follow the second paragraph. Why would he mix colors?

He's setting up two modular jacks. Lines 1 & 2 on jack 1, lines 3 & 4 on jack 2. Most of the multi-line analog phones can accept lines individually, or two at a time on a single jack. I had to read it twice myself. Not enough coffee yet
