Turned out the poles were metal and went flush with the top of the ceiling. Electrician was there day before me and utilized portion of pole with removable panel, mounted his 4x4 box and bx down. So I was kinda screwed, couldn't go in where he went and other sides would of had to be cut, plus like he said there was no separation within. So I wiremolded down on the outside and it looks fine, just may have to paint it to match pole.

Thanks for letting us know how it turned out.

I'm sure it looked fine.

I should have clarified, but states can require above and beyond what the NEC requires, here in SD they have done this. Power and low voltage cannot run in the same raceway. Every year they come out with a nooklet with updated state requirements so supplement the NEC.

We had similar regulations in NYC. No Romex, no #14 AWG cable on 15Amp circuits, no telephone or data equipment in electrical closets, etc.

The city went to the National code last year, but they still have ammendments that override and supercede the NEC.
