I had that problem with my first one , it started doing that then the handle broke
my second one is working just fine
do a search here I recall a thread from a few years ago where someone was reporting how they repaired theirs for the same problem
(mine broke before I could get around to looking for the thread )

I've done something over 150 terms with my jackrapid in the few months I've had it, Never a problem. Maybe they fixed the issue, or maybe I have not gravity tested mine enough to bring out the problem. When I took a look at mine just now, I cant see how you get the die out to replace it? Mine came with the Leviton 2p/3p/5e set.
I take that back, I've had a problem with some cables unseating before I can crimp. That is a cable/jack/user issue not the tool.
(I found this site when researching for problems with the jackrapid before I bought it.)
