So I've heard of F1, F2 and F3 (customer pair). Today I got a response on a TT I had opened and the tech reported replacing a bad F4 pair in the b-box. Can someone shed some light on this - what is an F4?

Cheers and thanks,
Jack

Not to be smart but it's the same type as F1, F2, and F3, they just have more crossboxes stacked up in the OSP. There's nothing physically special about them.

verizon plant can consist of up to an f3 pair, thats it. f1 is either the cable pair or the bas ( business as usual fiber ) leaving the c.o. then the f2 is either the cable pair from the sai box to the pole/ped/bldg term or the cable pair from the litespan or slic cabinet to the sai box, then lastly the f3 would be the cable pair from the sai box ( via litespan ) to the pole/ped/bldg term. i guess you could call the f4 the drop from the distribution terminal to the home/buisiness etc, but i know verizon does not use the term f4. sounds like an inexperienced tech trying to make like he knows what hes doing or a simple typo.
