Has anyone used this system yet and do you have pics of a clean install? We are using it for the first time an a job with 350 triple cat6 drops. Just wondering how anyone else did with this stuff.

I had no idea what it was until I googled it. I have to say that it looks like something that will be obsolete in a few years.

Back around 2000 I worked for the company that cabled Lucent/Avaya's building in Sydney. We installed the visipatch system there, only because it was their building & they wanted their latest & greatest installed.

The sell for it was that it cut down on NEXT & noise at the cross connect.

I have never seen it since to this day........

So it's been around for nine years? You're right, nobodies ever heard of it and their information on it makes it seem like it's a brand new concept.

Typical geek stuff.

I remember also back around 2000 in Australia, siemon's came out with a sheilded 2 pair cable that was crimped on a special connector at either end, they claimed it would be the new cat7 standard at the time, some old timers i worked with said it was just IBM type II re-hashed, we installed it in a couple of Government departments (not like them to waste money). The crazy thing was that at the desk & at the switch you still had to convert it back to RJ45 so it could plug into the PC & Cisco switch.

That is pretty much what the CAT7 standard is (is there a standard?). God help anybody who gets to install it.

the only place I have seen a customer need more that Cat6 is some defense installations that require Multi mode fiber to the desk, but in most cases this is their security paranoia rather than bandwidth requirements.

Siemon's idea for CAT 7 (Still not defined) is accepted in Europe as Class F. It consists of a 4 pair cable. Each pair is shielded and there is an overall braid. The connector is a little box divided into quarters, with each pair going in a quadrant.

IBM Type II used 2 pair 22 gauge shielded cable and had a large connector that, to my memory, doesn't resemble the Siemon's unit.

But I wouldn't bet on my memory these days.
