Hello --

Can I attach a PC using Procomm and a direct connection and a regular display phone as an integrated terminal (obviously as separate components) or do I have to use the specially designed integrated terminal to do this.

I'd like to be able to monitor what is going on with calls on the screen, and make route calls as necessary using the display phone.

Is this something that can be done?

If you do that it will not operate correctly. You can look at the "C" screen when using procomm to see what is going on with the calls. It is better than the operator screen. You can even assign a phantom extension as operator and program the port that you are using for procomm so that your PC using procomm willl show you the operator screen. You will need to change terminal emulation to see properly.

Good Luck!!

I guess today was "fiddle with the IDS" day for me. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I hooked up my PC running Procomm to the RS-232 port on my IDS-84. I was able to immediately get to the programming screen.

I have a 29-key display phone on extension 3001. I have the operator set to 3001. I have "Integrated CRT" on the "M" screen set to NO and the display directory names option set to YES. At the programming screen, if I press CTRL-O, I get the operator screen. The keys go to Integrated CRT mode, sort of, because I have a PC keyboard, not a Wyse-60 keyboard. Whatever I do on the 29-key display phone shows up on the terminal screen. It's kind of cool. What I am surprised about is that the display on the 29-key phone continues to work. I think that's because I have the Integrated CRT choice still set to NO.
