I would avoid any plug that requires a proprietary tool. I make one exception and that is the Amp tool. We make so few plugged cables that I couldn't justify the extra cost for the GMP tool. I just pay a little extra for Amp's propietary plugs and live with it. Now, about the only time I plug cables is when I go to a new job that another contractor has wired with RJ45 jacks. Most of our phones are RJ11. When I have a good relationship with the customer, I sometimes play the nice guy and put 8P/8C onto my line cords to avoid damaging his RJ45s. If IT comes up to me in a cocky way and says "we put in C6 for your phones", I don't bother. After all, why should I question the "expert"?
