Actually I found the analog Executone or Isoetec to be very reliable except the pre 1990 phones were terrible for button problems ie they get dirty and don't work. The 66 was a little afraid of lightning but the 96 very good.I still service one that was installed from 1987 or so.The Y2K thing isn't really a big issue but if you want voicemail I strongly suggest to get it out of there, only the 66 and 96 would take it anyway. And no call display on any of them. The good phones will have a date code of XX90 on the bottom of them and a soft feel to the buttons.

EZ1 usually refers to the system 36 or 18. It doesn't really matter if the 36 is y2k compliant or not. The only time you need the clock on the 36 is if you have smdr. Very few of them were installed. The 36 does not support display phones, thus no issue. I sill own a 36 and a 96s which supported data. I have no problems with either one.(except the time is off on the 96).
