In our new building, under construction now, the security guys were going to use coax to each camera. (I know, we had a discussion about IP cameras, etc. This is what we ended up with.) I asked for a cat5e to be pulled in for future proofing. They said, why not just pull in a cat5e and use baluns and not use coax? I've seen this done before with external baluns on twisted pair cable.
What I would like to see is the cat5e terminate on the back of a patch panel, with bnc coax connections on the front side. With the baluns built in. Is thee sch a product? I didn't find any in my initial quick search.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Jim

That is the right idea, Jeff. If it came in a model with bnc on the front instead of rca it would be perfect.

You could use BNC F to RCA M adapters...

Take a look at Altroix, they make a rack mounted power supply that not only provides power but has a a built in Balun. Twisted pair in, BNC out...real nice product
I Swear I did not touch anything

I looked at Altronix, and even gave them a phone call. They said nothing exists like I want.
Will have to keep looking, or create some sort of adapter/contraption to get the job done.
Thanks for the input. Jim
