I've been "recruited" to install an IDS 228, the installation went well but now I'm attempting the programming side. Not a big deal if I had all of the correct parts.
Can the system be programmed thru an atpi-160 phone (probally not practical) There is a service cable that was in the kit but no mdf/io cross panel.
I do have a laptop with procomm plus. The system does have an EVX (Rev B) with serial port and an ACPU (Rev V) with a cat 5 style 8 pin connection. Can it be programmed thru either of these connections without having to buy a WYSE terminal.
Thank you in advance

You need to program from the service cable connections that come off the backplane of the cabinet in the bottom right corner.Or you can program remotely by dialling in to the system and accessing the built in modem .The EVX card is the voicemail system. The Cat5 looking connection on the ACPU is for updating the flash memory if the card is using it.

I've got the service cable connected to the back plane, do I really need the mdf/io panel (didn't come with system) or can I split the cable open and punch down to a 66 block and cross connect using the necessary wires?

Hook system to a CO line, call that line and transfer yourself to the Modem.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

Does the modem have an actual extension I'm forwarding the call to?

If you want to use the modem, call in to the system and have the call transferred to ext 99.Depending on the modem it will be either 1200 or 14400 baud. If you have the service cable you can use it and punch it down to a 66 block if you need the pin out let me know.
