I just bought some Cat 6 jacks because they were cheap. I am wondering if these will work with Cat 5 or Cat 5e wire. I know --- check with the manufacturer. But I don't have time for that. I just wanted to get you all's opinion. What concerns me is that Cat 6 wire is 23 gague while Cat 5 and Cat 3 wire is 24 gague, which is thinner. I read another post here where someone did check on this issue and the manuf. said it would work.
What do you all think?

Hardware can be backwards compatible, but when push comes to shove, I'd try to avoid going the mix & match route.
Were the CAT 6 jacks selected strictly for price (as opposed to selecting CAT 5E jacks) :confused:
