I've been asked to complete a security camera project that was abandoned in progress many years ago. At present 3 camera are working on a 16-channel recorder. I've found and acquired compatible cameras (Lorex seem very good) but now I'm faced with tracing mysterious old cable runs and making them work. Yes, I should have said no, but I can't. It's like that.
In at least two locations, someone ran coax+power, but the ends are bare. I will need to add BNC coax terminations at each end.
I've terminated RG-6 for TV, but never BNC. Any suggestions?

terminate with the normal RG-6 connector and use a F-BNC adapter

I don't know. BNC is pretty easy to terminate. Get a good set of crimpers and you're off to the races. Strip the cable as you would for an F connector, and go. For heavens sake, it's 3 pieces! A cap for the core, a body and a ring to secure the body to the cable. Crimp on the pin (cap) first, then slip the ring on, push the body over the pin and down into the jacket, slide the ring up and crimp it down. Done.
Make sure that the connectors you buy are the right ones for the particular cable you're using and that the tool matches the connector. Test a few out, you'll be surprised how easy it is.
I always liked the Ideal Crimpmaster. It allowed you to change the crimp heads, depending on the type of cable you were using. For "standard" BNCs, the crimping insert was #30-578.

I don't see much RG6 being used for CCTV. If it's regular TV coax it won't work very well as the traditional CCTV cables are solid copper with a solid braid. I'd hope it's RG-59 with 18/2 for power.
I've done as Merritt says, used twist on BNCs (sorry), as well as 2 piece crimp BNCs.
Sam's way is the best. I just don't have the strippers and crimpers for it.

I use compression type BNC connectors. They are installed just like the compression connectors on RG6. Much easier to use than the 3 piece BNC.

My problem has been finding compression connectors that fit the plenum RG59 for CCTV. I did find some from Ideal that seem to be okay.
