I need to buy another 24 key DFP ESI phone (C-class). The phone needs voice mail. The local dealer says it's $225. Is this reasonable? It sounds like a lot for just a phone.

The voice mail is provided by the C-class KSU not the phone itself. $225 is not an unreasonable price.

so someone should be able to access voicemail without the actual ESI phone?
Where can I get an admin and user's guide for these?

Contact your dealer. If they installed it for you, they should have also given the Admin & User's Guides to you.

$5000 sounds like a lot for for a server too. Can't you buy an PC for $500 from Dell? It's all in the apps and proprietary hardware. I have phones that run from $39 to $650. Wanna bet they don't do the same thing????

225 is very reasonable...also, admin documents are written and verbal just by pressing the help key on the phone, that is why it cost more than a phone from office depot
