We are having several "issues" on a new installation and were wondering if any of y'all might know the fix for them:

1: When an inbound call is ringing all stations, the users have no choice but to answer the inbound call - their station is "locked" from any other feature other than answer. We were told hitting the RTelease key on an inbound would free the station but it doesn't.

2: Caller-ID is flakey on all CO's but works fine with an external caller ID box. ????

Thanks for you attention.

1. Put an Overide Ring key on the phones, press that to use other features when the phone is ringing.

2. When you say flakey, what exactly is going on?
ESI can change a Caller ID timing parameters, also you should set the caller ID to turn it on , along with area code and 7-10 digit for redial.

Hope that helps.

I believe the Override Ring feature was added to the S-Class and E-Class, and wasn't available on the 128+. I can't remember if this works or not (I'm thinking it doesn't), but have you tried putting the phone in DND and then dialing out? I know I've run into this before, but I seem to remember telling the user that the call had to be answered first.

ESI tech support has tuned up CID for me several times. It is a process they do quite often. As far as an ovveride key, I didn't find a reference to it in my manual. My manual is a 128 not a plus.

I assume the probleem is constantly ringing phones and a user desiring to make an outside call is accidentally connecting to the incoming call. Possibly education may solve this problem. To make outside call;

Do Not Lift Handset
Dial 9
Lift Handset when connected

Of course this will only work if I have understood the problem correctly.

Good Luck

You may be able to press the transfer button to get intercom dialtone, just like you would do if using outside dialtone. The Caller ID will not be seen if your service provider is sending a double ring. If this is the case, you need to have the service changed to a normal single ring cadence.

Seems like this issue has been addressed but here is my 2 cents.

Remember the IVX has a live dial pad. You can hit your line group number for an outside line or hit transfer to get intercom dial tone.

As long as you do not hit the speaker or lift the handset, you should be fine. Just like SST and GRIDER mentioned.
