Has anyone upgraded an IVX 56s 2 hour voice mail to a 30 hour one? Any pointers?

Both are Compact Flash media. In the past the 30 hour used to be a hard drive.

According to tech support, the whole system has to be reprogrammed. Unfortunately, that will mean down time for the customer. I was hoping for more of a backup and restore process.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Since the CF drives are larger now, I thought it was a matter of them "opening up" or allowing the additional space, rather than a replacement and reprogram. I have not done it before, so that's as much as I know about it, which apparently is not correct.

If you are upgrading software from whatever to Feature Set 2 that is a initialize system scenario. Is that possibly what is happening here?

That's an exspensive upgrade for 4 hours of recording time. Why not up it all the way to a 30 hour?

Before you remove the 4 hour MM take a current down load of the programming to your esi-access. When you install the 6 hour MM, lode the programming from esi-access to the MM. You will still need to re-record all of the custom prompts and end user station programming, but all the other programming should transfer okay.

Sorry about that. I corrected my original post to read 30 hours.

Yes in my experience it requires a system reprogam however if you pull a down load report then create another customer site for this customer you will be able to program if offline then upload it when you do the upgrade. The only thing is re-recording the ID's and greetings.

**NOTE** When you do the upgrade alway remind the customer to retrieve any voicemails or recordings off of the old voicemail prior to the upgrade.

I had a 128e with PRI upgrade to feature set II recently that took me 4 hours of manual programming offline prior to the upgrade. They had 50 guest mailboxes, all with custom call routing to outdial branches. Phew!

It all went smoothly though and they are very happy with the new feature set, especially the Fax server integration.
