Hi, we're a relatively new ESI reseller (been through all of the training except advanced IP), and I'm in the process of switching our internal system over to an IVX 72e.

I'm not happy with the quality of the attendant prompt recordings. I've used the telephone handset audio tap to connect the PC output to the handset, and recorded through that, as well as hard wiring a mono audio cable to the mic wires of an old junk handset we had laying around.

In both cases, we get a fair amount of "hiss" on the recording.

I noticed, too, that there is hiss in the background of the voice mails we leave, which leads me to believe it is something with the compression used.

Is there a way to convert standard WAV files to the "PMT" format used the by phone switch and upload the prompts through ESI-Access?

Thanks for any advice!!

ESI software sometime has various adjustments for audio quality from version to version. Make sure you have the latest version of software for the E-class. If you have Gen 1 instead of Gen 2 port cards, there may be a difference as well.

Here is the "official" reply from ESI Tech Support. I think all of us ESI Certified Dealers should petition them to work on this. It is a big shortcoming, in my opinion.

Tom,

Unfortunately there is no conversion utility to allow direct loading of your recordings. The best recordings are usually done with the person doing the recordings in a room by themselves and reading the scripts instead of going "off-the-cuff". I have never tried a direct connect bypassing the handset but I would be concerned about the impedance match being correct.

On the ESI reseller site is a link to send feature requests. I've sent a bunch, and usually get a reply, and then we've gone back and forth a bit.

No petition necessary. If we have all submitted similar requests, it will eventually filter down.
