ESI states that the screen pop will ONLY work with Microsoft Outlook (VIP screen Pops). Has anyone made the screen pop work with GoldMine software(replaces Microsoft Outlook)?

You can do it with TAPI phones.

Can someone go into more detail on this? I have a client that wants to do incoming call screen pop on goldmine or similar. I'm aware of the TAPI 48 key phone, but have never tried to get one to work.

What is the process?

It is just a function of delivering info to the program that is looking for it. The TAPI phone has a serial cable that connects to the PC and delivers the standard TAPI complian output. The PC then receives the info and the Goldmine software processes the info and generates the screen pop. There was an inexpensive "middleware" program that was necessary when we did it about two years ago. I would assume that the TAPI sets are still available afer the introduction of VIP.

Alternatively I was told by someone at ESI that VIP contained the TAPI "compliant output" and that is why you don't require a TAPI phone. I've looked at all of the docs that I could find and found nothing of the sort concerning VIP. I guess it's possible since VIP captures the caller ID info and displays it and it shows up in the telphony providers list with the other "TAPI" offerings in Control Panel...

Any ideas if this works?

If it shows up in the control panel, I would guess that you should then be able to test it using the Windows Dialer program (on XP, Start, Run, type in dialer). I didn't know it showed up in the control panel, so I've not tried it. Are there Properties associated with it too?

In Control Panel under Phone and Modem Options...
under advanced options, ESI VIP Service shows as a telephony service provider. Under configure are the setting that I provided in Outlook to setup VIP (IP, my extension, password, etc)Under Phone Options there is a check box (which is checked) for TAPI Controls Hookswitch.

No other "TAPI" settngs are available

Wasn't there a bulletin from ESI or someone else about a few available middleware solutions? I tried finding it, but couldn't locate anything.
