Has anyone hooked a LifeLine to an Esi system? We have an 256X with a PRI coming into it and apartments have DID's. When we try to use a life line the Life Line company can't reset the life line after it goes off. Anyone have experence with that?

Can you explain more? I've not heard of a Life Line before.

My web research indicates "Lifeline" to be almost a non-profit CLEC. At least that is what kept coming up when I was curious. Doug, give us more info....

I think it would have something to do with the ClEC timing peramitters.

Hey guys... Life Line is an emergency thing that they push a button on their pendant and their phone calls a number. After the call is completed they send some kind of a signal that sends a flash which in turn sends the esi extention to an intercom dial tone. It's really wierd.

Well, lifeline designed to connect to a standard loop-start CO line with disconnect supervision as would be found in a typical residence.
They may be signaling the ESI switch to drop the call, and it does, but unless the 256X is able to repeat this signal by performing an open-loop disconnect signal to the apartment extension, the lifeline equipment doesn't know to drop off. A lot of systems out there with analog station ports don't repeat this open-loop condition. Most just return dead air, intercom dial tone or perhaps a fast busy (reorder tone). I can't say for sure with the 256X since I am not familiar with that system.
This sounds like the typical loop supervision issue that we very frequently discuss around here for voice mail issues. I'll be that's yours as well.

I wonder if one of Sandman's tricky tools can help resolve the problem. Go HERE to see if something he has can help you. Let us know what you get figured out.
