Hi,
I have a question about hooking up the operators terminal.
I have the dispaly/keyboard and the operators terminal (gray box) along with the handset that goes with it. On one side of the box (I'll call this side A) are two recepts and a speaker(?). I am pretty sure that the hand set connects to the recpt. located near the front of the box. I'm not sure what connects to the other one which is located near the middle of side A.

On the back of the box (side B) are 2 recpts. I am assuming one connects to the wall jack and the other is a 25 pin recpt. Not sure about this one though.

Anyone have any ideas?
I have a laptop I can use to connect but I thought since I have some time I would see if I can get them working.
Thanks.

JJ,
Thanks for emailing the info.
I wasn't too far off in my guess of the connections.
I think I have a problem with either the kbd or the crt in that is doesn't accept any key strokes. It simply beeps whenver I hit a key.
While the kbd is the one that came with the system the crt is not.
The original, part time, phone person that originally "started" the installation back in Aug 03, replaced the original crt with the "Link MC5" crt that I have now.
I think there may be some incompatibility issues I am running into.
Anyway thanks again for the info.
Steve

Executone used a modified Wyse terminal.
If you can find a WYSE terminal and change the jumpuer on the inside it should work. Also there is a fuse on the inside of cover that sometimes blows.

Good Luck!!

The Wyse was modified in more ways than one.First it has a different eprom inside as as the RS232 chips pulled and a daughterboard RS422 installed.

The modifications on the wyse were substantial. It requires a special circuit board. Unless you really need the terminal for your operator position, just use a terminal emulation and a PC for programming. There are fewer and fewer of the IDS monitors floating around in working condition. If you do find an unmodified wyse, it is possible to retrofit it with the proper hardware to turn it into an IDS compatible monitor. If you need a source for the modification hardware, hit me with an e-mail.

All,
Thanks for the info.
I have a laptop that I normally use. I thought since I have this Link MC5 terminal, and since it is taking up space in the phone closet, I would try to use it if I could. No big deal if it doesn't work. Just like the challenge of trying to get it to work. Thanks again.
Steve.
