Hello!
I just switched from and AT&T digital T1 with ground start channels to a Nuvox Flexlink T1 with E&M DID channels, so I could start using the DID functionality of the ESI system. Unfortunatly I ran into some issues with the CallerID on the E&M trunks. When Nuvox turned on the caller ID on the circuit the Inbound DID routing did not work. Calls were presented to the system, but all the other party heard was dead air. None of the DID routing worked either. The Nuvox tech suggested turning off the CallerID and then all the routing worked fine. The Nuvox tech said he had seen the problem before with E&M trunks and caller ID on other systems and said turning off the caller ID feature corrected the issue in the past. He turned it off and everything started working as programmed.
SO my question is... Does the ESI system support Caller ID with E&M DID circuits??? I asked my local dealer and he didn't have an answer except for the fact that "it should work". The ESI documentation I have does not really provide detail information either. I know E&M is an old technology, but we liked the idea of using DIDs on the system, but not having to pay for the upgrade to a PRI card (my boss likened it to putting a new transmission in an old truck). Our local Dealer didn't know much of about E&M either and suggested contacting dealer we purchased it from (this system was pruchased from our corporate HQ out of state).
I've searched this forum a few times before and have found some pretty helpful information so I wanted ask you guys to see if you could provide an answer or point me in the right direction for the fix. I really would like to have Caller ID at this location (we had it before the switch) and I'd still like the idea of the DIDs, but I wanted to check a couple of souces before I tell the bosses its either one or the other...
FYI... I have the circuts configured as E&M DID, WINK in, WINK out, Dial tone "off" and Ringback "off".
Thanks for your help!

Check F24 and make sure "caller ID" is enabled.

Windy is correct CID definitely needs to be enabled.
This may or may not produce the desired results. As far as the ESI system being able to coordinate with Nuvox Flexlink T-1 (whatever the heck that is) I'm sure it is possible. What will probably be required is your ESI installer will be required to be on site and probably call into ESI Tech Support and make adjustments. The sad thing is your ESI equipment is now being modified to accommodate NUVOX. I'm not a fan of "rigging" perfectly good equipment to make something you already had but didn't know it work.
Shame on NUVOX, give me OLDVOX anyday!

Depending upon the type of ESI system you have, more than likely the T1 card will work as either PRI or T1.

Thomas - Its a IVX128+ that I believe was installed in 2000 (before my time here). Early in the process I talked with a couple dealers about upgrading to support PRI, one told me that I would have to get a DLC12 PRI card that was specific to this version of the 128+ system. But another (out of town dealer) told me that the DLC12 card can support both T1 and PRI selectable with a jumper setting. I couldn't tell you which version I have and I'm not about to open the cabinet to make any changes like that.
I had F24 turned on. The issue is when Nuvox turns caller ID on from their CO.
Thanks for your quick responses.

I know that with an E&M T1 ANI is not passed through to the display on the phones. I have not been aware that true caller id was available on T1 circuits, it was purely an analog line service.
I just upgraded my X-Class to the latest software, and in the process switched to PRI. (I have an Adtran Atlas, so I can multiplex the T1 to the ESI, a fax server and a test server for our PD software, each port can be either D4/AMI/E&M or PRI, and i can switch at will) Anyway, using the PRI pilot number table for live ring, ANI is not passed when the phone is ringing, it will only display when the call is answered. When I switch to handling the inbound calls via DNIS table, and routing to AA or department ringing, ANI IS passed on most calls.

Rob, are you sure you're not getting it until you pick up because you have NAMES assigned to the Pilots? Since they program the same as analog lines, and since analog lines wouldn't show you CID until you answered it, if you had a name assigned to the line, I'm fairly certain the Pilots function the same way.

Yeah.. that's it. Actually, it works fine with the analog lines, i have names assigned, and if CallerID info is available, then the caller name displayed on the top line, and the line name is shown below. But with the Pilot table, only the number name is shown. I asked support about it, and they confirmed this was how it's supposed to work....
We have two companies in house, but a few of the users are in both companies, so we can't use tenanting to separate the inbound calls. How can we know how to answer the phone and IF we want to anwer it (based on CID) if by design, the system doesn't show CID until after picking it up!?!?
