Need a little help trying to get a remote IP phone working off a Comm Server 100. It is software rev 12.5.28
The IVC24R is brand new rev ???.
The phone (5000-1532) is brand new and rev 3.14.
There is a remote license that ESI loaded.
The phone works locally no problem.
I have tried to get the phone to work over a VPN and just to a public IP address and often times it will boot up connect to the system and show the Date time and trunk status but you get no audio, then after about 30 seconds the phone will drop and not come back.
I have port 59103 forwarded to the IVC and we forwarded port 59236 to the IP of the phone (just for grins).

Where did you come up with 59103 and 59236?

I'm gonna assume as Upstate that you change the ports?

Have you changed the phone in ext. settings to be remote? also is the correct mac address in for the phone.

Have you programmed the phone itself as a remote phone either with ESI-address or by going throught the remote phone setup procedure? If the phone doesn't know it's a remote phone it won't have a target IP address to find your phone system. You might have some luck over a VPN, but nothing consistent until you provision it properly with ESI-address.
