Hey gang,
Anybody using Google-adwords to get customers to your site? ..and if so...how are the results?

Google AdWords works. The issue is targeting your particular market to optimize the money your spending.
If you are doing local telephone system installation, only target to your particular area and don't setup national or state wide ad's.
You may also want to work on adding more information to your web site. The search engines will like this and users will be able to read more about your offerings so they feel confident your the right choice when they call.

Are you listed in the Find an Installer site? if not you can come to the top of many search results if you take listings in some of the big cities you service. Thats only $ 39.00 per listing (city) and not an on going pay per click or you could do both. But do as Chris mentioned if your going to go with Google PPC (Pay Per Click)

Yeah Tom, I was considering that before...but there's already a fair amount of competition listed there for the southern California area..Los Angeles in particular...and we'd be near the bottom of the alphabetical list...'Q'. But it is still a good idea and one can't argue with the price or the results. Thanks for the feedback on the google-ads Chris.

We have used Google ad words for a while now and have had very good results. We offset the cost of the ad words by allowing ad-words to be placed on our site. If you are targetting a particular product, it can be very effective.

Google ad words or Yahoo's ad words are ok to use, but they do not take the place of quality in-bound links / backlinks to a website.
Continually building backlinks will help your site in search engine results.
There have been some studies that suggest fewer people click in adword links than on search engine results.

Yeah, I myself almost always pretty much ignore them... being way off to the right... out-of-site..out-of-mind. Pros and cons..like alot of stuff. Thanks for the input.
